I got this email today, like a thank-you note. It was all about some friends who stayed over at my beach house. And you know what? I felt like I should write this down somewhere. So here I am, typing this out.

First off, I remember when they asked if they could crash at my place. They were all, “Hey, we’re thinking of a beach getaway, and your house would be perfect!” I was like, “Sure, why not?” I mean, I love that place, but I don’t get to go there as often as I’d like. So, yeah, it was cool that someone else could enjoy it.
Getting the place ready was a bit of work, I gotta say.
- I drove over a few days before they arrived.
- Started by airing the place out, you know, getting rid of that musty smell.
- Then I did a whole bunch of cleaning – swept the floors, wiped down all the counters, and even cleaned out the fridge.
- Made sure there were fresh sheets on the beds and clean towels in the bathroom.
I even left them a little welcome basket with some snacks and drinks. Thought it would be a nice touch.
They stayed for about a week. During that time, I got a few texts from them. Stuff like, “The sunset view from your porch is amazing!” or “We found this great little seafood place nearby, thanks for the recommendation!” It was nice to hear they were having a good time.
The Aftermath
After they left, I went back to check on the house. They left it pretty clean, which was a relief. They even washed the sheets and towels, which was super thoughtful. In the end, it was a good experience. Sharing my beach house with friends turned out to be a great idea. It’s nice to know that the place brought them some joy. And it was a good reminder for me, too, of how special that little house is.
Oh, the note they left? It was simple but sweet. It said, “Thank you for letting us stay at your beach house. We had a wonderful time.” It made the whole thing feel even better. It’s funny how a few words can do that, right?
