So, I had this whole retirement thing coming up, and I really wanted to do something special to thank everyone who made my work life amazing. I thought, what better way than to send out some heartfelt thank you cards? Nothing too fancy, just a simple gesture to show my appreciation.

First, I started browsing online to get some ideas. I checked out a bunch of different websites that sell all kinds of cards. I was looking for something unique and personal, but also something that wouldn’t take forever to put together. I found some nice designs, but nothing that really clicked with me. I wanted my cards to be more than just generic “thank you” messages.
Then, I decided to try crafting the cards myself. I headed to a local craft store and picked up some cardstock, envelopes, and a few decorative items. I spent a whole afternoon just experimenting with different designs and layouts. It was kind of messy, but it was also a lot of fun. I tried to make each card unique, reflecting the personality of the person I was thanking.
After I had the designs down, I started writing the messages. This was probably the most important part. I wanted each message to be genuine and specific. I thought back to all the good times and the support I received from my colleagues over the years. I wrote things like, “Thank you for believing in me and helping me succeed in my role.” and “Years from now, when I think back on the highlights of my career, I’ll definitely remember you.” It was a bit emotional, but it felt good to express my gratitude.
I also wanted to send a special thank you to my employer for all the opportunities and support they provided me. I drafted a letter that said something like, “As you retire, we want to express our profound gratitude for your years of dedicated service. Your commitment and hard work have been the cornerstone of our success.” I tried to keep it professional but also heartfelt.
Making the Cards
- Gathered supplies: cardstock, envelopes, pens, and some stickers.
- Designed the layout: Kept it simple but personal. I doodled a bit, and added some stickers to make them look nice.
- Wrote the messages: I took my time with this. Tried to make each message unique and heartfelt.
- Assembled the cards: Put everything together, and they looked pretty good, if I may say so myself.
Finally, I sealed the envelopes and sent them out. It felt really good to know that I had taken the time to personally thank everyone. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. I hope they all liked their cards. It was the perfect way to wrap up my career and show my appreciation.
I got a call from some of my ex-coworker, and they all thanked me for my sweet card, and some of them also cried for such a wonderful memory, I was quite happy for that.
I’ll admit, I am a bit sad for retire and leaving, but at the same time, I’m super grateful for the incredible journey and the amazing people I’ve met along the way.
And that’s it, if you are gonna retire soon, you can consider this way to show your gratitude to all your colleague and employer.
