So, today I wanna share this experience of how I crafted an email with the subject “Thank you for meeting with me.” It was a pretty interesting journey, and I think it might be useful for you guys as well.

It all started a few days ago when I had a meeting with some folks. It was a good one, we talked about a bunch of stuff, and I felt like I needed to send a follow-up email to say thanks. But, you know, just saying “thanks” seemed kinda lame, so I wanted to make it a bit more personal and, well, effective.
First off, I spent some time thinking about what exactly we discussed in the meeting. I jotted down some key points, like the main topics, any decisions we made, and any action items that came up. I thought, this way, the email wouldn’t just be a generic “thank you”, but it would also serve as a useful recap.
Then, I started drafting the email. I decided to keep it short and sweet – no one wants to read a novel after a meeting, right? I made sure to address each person by their name to make it a bit more personal.
- I kicked off with a simple “Thank you for taking the time to meet with me.”
- Then, I added a line or two summarizing the main points we talked about.
- After that, I mentioned any specific actions that I promised to take, like “I’ll send you that document by Friday.”
Once the draft was ready, I took another step which I think is super important – I set it aside for a few hours. Yeah, you heard that right. I just left it there. Why? Because I wanted to come back to it with fresh eyes. It’s amazing how many little things you can miss when you’re too close to something.
A few hours later, I came back, re-read the email, and made a few tweaks. I fixed a couple of typos, rephrased a sentence or two to make them clearer, and double-checked that I hadn’t forgotten anything important.
Finally, I hit that “send” button. And you know what? I felt pretty good about it. It wasn’t just a thank you email, it was a well-thought-out message that showed my appreciation and also helped to keep things moving forward after the meeting.
So, that’s my story about writing a “thank you for meeting with me” email. Hope you found it helpful!
