Okay, so today I wanted to try something different, something I saw on a home decor blog – creating a “Glad to Have You” hospitality basket. I’ve always loved the idea of making guests feel extra welcome, so I figured, why not give it a shot?

First, I grabbed an old wicker basket I had lying around. It was a little dusty, so I gave it a good wipe-down. I wanted something that looked rustic and inviting, and this basket fit the bill perfectly.
Gathering the Goodies
Next up was the fun part – filling the basket! I started by thinking about what I’d appreciate if I were a guest in someone’s home. Here’s what I came up with:
- A fluffy towel: Because who wants to use a scratchy old towel?
- Some nice-smelling soap: I found a little bar of lavender soap at a local shop.
- A small bottle of lotion: For dry hands after traveling.
- A travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste: Just in case someone forgot theirs.
- A couple of snacks: I included some granola bars and a small bag of trail mix.
- A bottle of water: Staying hydrated is key!
- A handwritten note: I wrote a quick “Welcome! So glad you’re here!” message.
Putting It All Together
Once I had everything, I started arranging it in the basket. I put the towel on the bottom, then added the soap, lotion, and toiletries. I tucked the snacks and water bottle in around the sides, making sure everything was visible and easy to grab. Finally, I placed the handwritten note on top.
The whole thing took me maybe 30 minutes, but it made such a difference! I put the basket in the guest room, and it instantly made the space feel more welcoming and homey. It’s a small gesture, but I think it really shows guests that you care.
I’m definitely going to keep doing this. It was so easy, and it’s a fun way to add a personal touch to hosting. Plus, who doesn’t love getting a little welcome basket when they arrive somewhere?
