Okay, so, today I wanted to share my experience with sending out wedding invitations via SMS. It’s a bit unconventional, but it worked out pretty well for me, so I thought, why not talk about it?

First off, I was looking for ways to save some money and also be a bit more eco-friendly. Traditional paper invitations can be quite pricey, and let’s be honest, they often end up in the trash. So, I started thinking, what about SMS? Everyone has a phone these days, right?
I did some digging around and found that sending wedding invites through text messages is actually becoming a thing. It’s cost-effective, fast, and you’re pretty much guaranteed that people will see it. No more worrying about invitations getting lost in the mail or forgotten in a pile of papers.
So, I decided to go for it. I started by collecting everyone’s phone numbers. This was probably the most time-consuming part, but I already had most of them, and for the rest, I just reached out to family and friends to get them.
Next up was crafting the message itself. I wanted to keep it short and sweet but also include all the important information. After a few drafts, I settled on something like this:
- “With great joy, [My Name] and [Partner’s Name] invite you to celebrate our wedding on [Date] at [Venue].”
I added a line about RSVPing and a deadline, so people could simply reply to the message. I figured this would make it easy for everyone to respond. To add the personal touch, I recorded a video in advance and attached the video to each SMS.
Once everything was ready, I sent out the messages. I used a bulk SMS service to make things easier. It was a bit nerve-wracking hitting that “send” button, but I reminded myself that this was a practical and modern way to invite people to our wedding.
The responses started coming in pretty quickly. Most people loved the idea! They found it convenient and appreciated the eco-friendly aspect. Of course, there were a few older relatives who were a bit confused at first, but they figured it out eventually or got some help from the younger generation.
In the end, sending wedding invitations via SMS turned out to be a great decision. It saved us money, it was environmentally friendly, and it was super efficient. Plus, it was kind of fun to do something a little different.
So, if you’re planning a wedding and looking for a practical and modern way to invite your guests, I’d definitely recommend considering SMS invitations. It might not be traditional, but it sure gets the job done!
