Okay, so my little girl is turning 21. Can you believe it? Feels like just yesterday I was changing her diapers, and now she’s all grown up. Anyway, I wanted to make her birthday extra special this year, so I decided to make a handmade birthday card.
First things first, I went online and started browsing for some ideas. I found a bunch of websites with some pretty cool designs. Some were simple, others were really fancy. I even saw a few you could personalize with photos and stuff, which was a neat idea.
After getting some inspiration, I went to my craft box to see what I had to work with. I found some colorful cardstock, glitter, ribbons, and some cute stickers. I also grabbed my trusty scissors, glue, and some markers.
I decided to go with a simple but elegant design. I started by folding a piece of pink cardstock in half. Then, I cut out a slightly smaller piece of white cardstock and glued it to the front, leaving a nice pink border.
Next, I wanted to add a bit of sparkle, so I carefully applied some glitter glue around the edges of the white cardstock. While that was drying, I wrote “Happy 21st Birthday!” on a small piece of cardstock with a fancy marker and glued it to the center of the card.
I added a few heart-shaped stickers around the message, because, you know, she’s my daughter. For a finishing touch, I tied a pretty pink ribbon into a bow and glued it to the top of the card.
Inside the card
Of course, the inside message is just as important as the outside design. I thought long and hard about what to write. Here is what I came up with:
- “To my dearest daughter,”
- “I’m so proud of you and everything you’ve accomplished so far. “
- “No matter what, you’ll always be my little girl.”
- “I can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds for you.”
- “Wishing you everything special this year – because you deserve it.”
- “Love always,”
- “Mom”
I also threw in a few inside jokes that only she would get. Finally, I put the card in an envelope and sealed it. I couldn’t wait to give it to her on her birthday.
I know it’s just a card, but I think she’ll appreciate the effort. It’s the little things that show you care, right? Plus, handmade gifts always feel more personal. Now, I just have to make sure I don’t accidentally drop it in a puddle or something before her big day.
