Crafting the Ideal Marriage Invitation Text Message: Wording Ideas and Examples

Okay, so I wanted to send out wedding invitations. But not the usual paper ones, you know? I thought, why not use text messages? It’s quicker, cheaper, and hey, it’s 2024, right?

Crafting the Ideal Marriage Invitation Text Message: Wording Ideas and Examples

First, I had to figure out what to write. I mean, you can’t just text “Hey, we’re getting married, wanna come?” That’s just… no. So, I started looking around online. I saw some examples, some were too formal, like “request the honor of your presence” stuff. Others were too simple, like “We’re getting married, be there or be square.” I needed something in between. Something that felt like us.

I started playing around with different words. First, I tried a more traditional approach, including our families in the invite. You know, something like:

  • “Together with our beloved families, [Our Names] request the honor of your presence at our wedding celebration on [Date] at [Place].”

But that felt a bit too stiff for a text message.

Then I tried something simpler:

  • “Please join [Our Names] as we tie the knot! We invite you to share in our joy as we get married on [Date] at [Place].”

This was better, more our style, but still not quite there.

So, I messed around some more. I wanted it to be casual but still, you know, special. After a few tries, I came up with this:

  • “Hey everyone! Guess what? We’re getting hitched! We’d love for you to join us as we say ‘I do’ on [Date] at [Place]. It’s gonna be a fun day full of love, laughter, and maybe some happy tears. Hope to see you there!”

Yeah, that was it! It was casual, friendly, and felt just right for a text message invite.

Next, I had to actually send them out. I made a list of everyone we wanted to invite, which took a while, let me tell you. Then, I just started copying and pasting the message, changing the names, and hitting send. It took some time, but it was way faster than writing out traditional invitations.

The Feedback

The response was great! People loved the text message idea. They said it was unique and so much more convenient. Plus, they could just reply right there, which made RSVPing super easy. We got a few “LOLs” and a bunch of heart emojis, which was fun.

So, yeah, that’s how I did our wedding invitations through text messages. It was a bit of work, figuring out the wording and sending them all out, but it was totally worth it. It felt more personal, and it was definitely more ‘us’. Plus, we saved a bunch on postage and paper, which is always a good thing!
