Okay, so today I wanted to try something a little different – sending out some words of appreciation for pastors. You know, those folks who are always there, guiding and supporting us? I thought, why not try to put into words how much they mean to us? I mean, it’s Pastor Appreciation Day, so it seems like a good time, right?

First off, I started by just jotting down some thoughts. Like, what do I really appreciate about pastors? I made a list, thinking about all the times they’ve been there for me and others. Their advice, their kind words, the way they always seem to know what to say…it all went on the list.
Brainstorming and Drafting
Then, I tried to turn those thoughts into actual messages. I wanted them to be simple but meaningful, you know? Not too complicated. So, I wrote things like, “Thank you for being a shepherd to the flock and a guiding light in our lives.” It felt right, saying “shepherd” because that’s what they do, right? They guide us.
- “Your dedication to the Lord’s work touches our hearts and souls daily.”
- “For your guidance, wisdom, and unwavering faith, we are forever grateful.”
I also remembered a verse, Psalm 90:17. It talks about God’s favor resting on someone and establishing the work of their hands. I thought that was perfect for a pastor, so I included it in one of the messages. “Lord, our God, may Your favor rest upon our pastor(s) and establish the work of their hands.”
Reflecting on the Impact
As I was writing, I started to think about how much these messages could mean to someone. It’s not every day that pastors get thanked, is it? So, I figured, even a short message could really brighten their day. I also threw in a prayer: “God of hope, may You fill our pastor(s) with all joy and peace as they trust in You.” It’s just a little something to let them know we’re praying for them too.
Sending Out the Messages
After I was happy with what I’d written, I sent out the messages. Some I texted, some I emailed, depending on what I thought the person would prefer. And you know what? It felt really good to do it. Like I was spreading a bit of positivity.
It got me thinking, why don’t we do this more often? Not just for pastors, but for anyone who makes a difference in our lives. A little “thank you” can go a long way. So, that’s my little experiment for today. Trying to appreciate the people around me, starting with some words of thanks for pastors. And honestly, I think I might make this a regular thing.
