Crafting the perfect short message for doctors. A quick guide for you!

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of sending short messages to doctors, just to say thanks, you know? It started a while back when my doc went above and beyond for my kid, and I just felt like I had to do something more than a quick “thanks” in the office.

First, I started brainstorming what I wanted to say. I mean, a good thank you message can really make someone’s day, right? I jotted down some ideas. I wanted to be sincere but not too sappy. I also did some digging online for inspiration. I found some good quotes about doctors and the work they do, like that one by William Osler about treating the patient, not just the disease. It really hit home for me.

  • I tried writing a few different messages, experimenting with different tones.
  • I read them out loud to make sure they sounded natural.
  • I avoided using any slang or stuff that might be confusing.
  • I even asked my wife to take a look at them, just to get a second opinion.

After a few tries, I finally settled on a message that I liked. It was short and sweet, something like, “Thank you for going out of your way to help my son—it meant so much and truly brightened our day.” I also remembered that quote by Maya Angelou about people remembering how you made them feel, so I tried to focus on that.

Then I sent the message. Let me tell you, it felt really good to do it. It was a small thing, but it felt like the right thing to do. And you know what? I think it actually made a difference. I could tell my doc appreciated it. It’s like, these folks work so hard, and a little appreciation can go a long way.

Since then, I’ve made it a bit of a habit. Not all the time, just when it feels right. I believe that expressing gratitude is always a good thing. It doesn’t have to be a big production, just something simple and from the heart, like “Your kindness was a true gift.” It’s been a cool little experiment, and it’s definitely something I’ll keep doing.

Anyway, that’s my little story about sending thank you messages to doctors. Maybe it’ll inspire you to do the same sometime. It’s worth it, trust me.
