Okay, so the other day, I was trying to figure out something new with my phone – I wanted to set up a custom ringtone for when my best friend calls. Sounds simple, right? Well, it turned out to be a tiny bit trickier than I thought, but I got there in the end, and I thought I’d share how I did it, just in case anyone else is scratching their heads over this.
First, I grabbed my phone and went straight to the “Settings” app. You know, the one that looks like a gear or something. Tapped that, and then scrolled down until I saw “Sounds & Haptics”. Clicked on that.
Finding the Right Sound
Now, here’s where I initially got a little stuck. I was looking for something that said “Custom Ringtones” or something like that, but nope, not there. Instead, I had to tap on “Ringtone” under the “Sounds and Vibration Patterns” section.
- Go to Settings
- Tap Sounds & Haptics
- Tap Ringtone
This took me to the list of all the pre-loaded ringtones, the usual ones that come with the phone. I already knew I didn’t want any of those. I had this awesome song snippet I wanted to use. So, I remembered I have the tone file in my files. So I go back to “files” and click “share”, then found the setting to add my sound as a ringtone.
Assigning it to My Friend
So, with the new ringtone added, the last step was to actually assign it to my best friend. I went back to the main “Settings” menu, and then tapped on “Contacts”. Found my friend’s name in the list and tapped on it.
Then, I tapped “Edit” in the top right corner. Scrolled down a bit, and there it was – “Ringtone”. Tapped that, and this time, instead of the default list, I saw my new custom ringtone right there at the top! Selected it, tapped “Done” a couple of times, and that was it!
Now, every time my best friend calls, I get to hear that awesome tune instead of the boring default ring. It’s a small thing, but it makes me smile every time. And hey, it was a fun little tech adventure figuring it all out. I think it’s pretty good for me, thanks for the treat!
