Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with something I’ve been thinking about for a while – flower notes. Not the perfume kind, but like, actual notes made from flowers. Sounds crazy, right? But I saw this thing online a while back and it stuck with me.

First, I gathered a bunch of flowers. I just went to the local market and picked out whatever looked colorful and had different shapes. I ended up with some roses, a few daisies, some of those little purple things – you know, the ones that look like bells? – and a couple of sunflowers because why not?
Next, I needed a way to stick them to paper. I didn’t want to use regular glue, it seemed too messy. So I tried pressing them first. I laid the flowers out between some heavy books and left them there for, like, a whole day. They got flatter, but not really “note” material. Some of them just crumbled when I tried to pick them up.
- Roses: These held up okay, but the petals were still too thick.
- Daisies: Disaster. They pretty much fell apart.
- Bell-shaped things: These actually worked pretty well. They flattened nicely and kept their shape.
- Sunflowers: Too big. Maybe if I just used the petals?
So, pressing was a semi-fail. Then, I remembered I had some clear contact paper. I cut a couple of sheets, peeled off the backing, and carefully placed the flowers on the sticky side. Then I put another sheet on top, so they were sandwiched in there. This worked way better!
The Sticky Situation
I trimmed around the flowers, trying to make them look neat. Some of the petals still wanted to curl up, so I stuck tiny bits of the contact paper on them to hold them down. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely an improvement.
Finally, I arranged my flower cutouts on a piece of cardstock. I played around with different layouts until I found something I liked. I even wrote a little message using a thin marker, right on the contact paper. It looked surprisingly cool!
So, yeah, that was my flower note adventure. It was definitely more work than I expected, and a bit messy, but I ended up with something unique. I think I’ll try it again sometime, maybe with different flowers or a different kind of adhesive. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start sending out flower notes instead of regular cards. It’s something different, you know?
