Alright, here’s my recent experience with crafting a thank you message for my Airbnb host. I’ve stayed in quite a few Airbnbs, and I always feel like sending a nice note is the right thing to do, but I never really knew what to say. Plus I’m not even sure if hosts actually read them.

So, the other day, I was staying at this super cozy apartment in Chicago. It was right in the middle of everything, super clean, and had the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. I knew I wanted to send a thank you note, but I figured I should look up some examples online just to see what other people were saying. You know, get some inspiration.
I started by typing “airbnb thank you message to host example” into Google. The first few results were okay. They gave some basic ideas, but nothing felt quite right. Most of them just said I can write how much I appreciate their kindness, how wonderful their place is, etc. They were all pretty generic, and I wanted something a bit more personal, like a real human, not a template.
Then, I found these websites. One was an article, another was like a blog post, I think. They talked about how a good thank you note can really make a host’s day, which makes sense. They also mentioned that most guests don’t even bother to write one, which is kind of sad, really. Like, these people open up their homes to strangers, the least we can do is say thanks, right?
- One of the tips I saw was to mention specific things I liked about the place. Not just “It was great!”, but something like “The location was perfect for exploring the city” or “I loved the little coffee shop you recommended around the corner”.
- Another tip was to keep it short and sweet. No need to write a novel. Just a few sentences are enough to show your appreciation.
So, armed with these tips, I started writing my thank you note to my Chicago host. I think her name was Sarah. Here’s what I wrote:
My Thank You Note:
Hi Sarah,
Thank you so much for letting me stay at your amazing apartment! It was exactly what I was looking for. The location was perfect, right in the heart of everything. And that bed was seriously the most comfortable thing ever! I also really appreciated the little touches, like the local snacks and the list of restaurant recommendations. You really made my trip to Chicago special.
Thanks again,
[My Name]
I sent the message through the Airbnb app right after I checked out. I don’t know if she’s read it yet, but I hope it made her feel good. Honestly, writing the note made me feel good too. It was a nice way to end my trip and show my gratitude.
From now on, I’m definitely going to make more of an effort to write thank you notes to my Airbnb hosts. It’s such a simple thing, but I think it can make a big difference. Plus, it’s just good manners, you know?
