Got an invitation to my buddy Mark’s birthday bash the other day. It’s always a blast at his place, so I knew I had to figure out a good way to respond. I mean, you can’t just leave a guy hanging, right?

“Hey Mark, thanks for the invite to your birthday party! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it because I already have something else planned. But I really appreciate you thinking of me, and I hope you have a fantastic time! Let’s catch up soon.”
See? It’s not that hard. Just be friendly and upfront, and you’re golden. Even if you can’t make it, you are still showing that you care. A simple message is enough to show your respect!
